Sunday March 25th is national ‘Neighbour Day’ and it is fast approaching. Each year since 2003 Australia celebrates ‘Neighbour Day’ on the last Sunday of March. Neighbour Day is Australia’s annual celebration of community, bringing together the people next door, across the street or on the next farm for a beer, a barbie or just a cuppa.
Last year, ACT Neighbourhood Watch decided that ‘Neighbour Day’ is the perfect day to say thanks to everyday people who are great neighbours; people who are there when others need them most. So, in 2011 we awarded our inaugural ACT NHW Good Neighbour Award to Mr George and Mrs Rose Cooper seen pictured above with Superintendent Flower.
They were nominated by their next door neighbour Debbie, who simply downloaded a nomination form, filled it in and sent it to The Secretary; ACT Neighbourhood Watch Association Inc. GPO Box 1047, Canberra ACT 2601 by the due date.
Do you know someone who never seeks recognition and is always genuinely helping out around your neighbourhood? We had dozens of worthy entries last year and we are looking forward to receiving more nominations from you BEFORE Friday the 2nd MARCH this year.
The award presentation will occur on ‘Neighbour Day’ and we will be sure to let everyone know where that will take place as soon as those details come to hand.
Remember, as the ‘Neighbour Day’ official slogan says; “the community you want starts at your front door” so get your nomination form by clicking on the link 3 paragraphs ago, or click on 'Good Neighbour 2012 Award' on the home page 'useful links' menu or at About Us Resources Tab.
